How Can the Electricity Quality in Norway Be Analyzed?

power-quality-blog

Power quality refers to how well a piece of equipment can utilize the energy that is provided to it. Power quality issues result in excessive energy usage and bills, high maintenance expenses, direct economic repercussions, lost productivity, downtime and resources that cannot be replaced, and unstable or malfunctioning equipment. Any organization should consider energy management, and any energy management program should consider power quality. CareLabs provides a variety of services that address many types of energy issues. We provide services to investigate and analyze power quality based on our knowledge in the sector.

Problems with the Power Quality:

Power supply quality is a more sophisticated and nuanced metric than dependability. It is not a question of whether or not there is a sufficient supply. It is instead a question of whether or not the supply can be utilized.

Changes in power quality can be classified into two categories:

Upheavals:

A disturbance might occur when the voltage or current is not correct. It may be determined when the peak value of a transient voltage exceeds a specific threshold. When the RMS variation exceeds a particular threshold, RMS voltage variations such as sags, swells, and interruptions can be seen.

Deviations from the steady-state:

Variations in the steady-state include changes in the RMS voltage and harmonic wave distortion. Voltage and current must be checked over time to keep track of these changes. The level of voltage distortion over time is best shown by this sampling data. The average distortion level, which is 95% unlikely to be surpassed, and other approaches may then be used to analyze it.

Some of the factors influencing supplier quality are:

  • Voltage consistency
  • How often it is made accessible
  • Voltage decreases
  • Voltage spikes
  • Voltage fluctuations
  • Harmonious changes
  • Radio frequency estimation

Most of these items are difficult to detect and notice. To measure them, specific testing equipment is normally needed, and only certified technicians or engineers should do it.

Voltage Constant:

Because of load and other system events, the steady-state voltage levels of an electrical system are constantly changing. Voltage levels often decrease as the load increases. Similarly, when a load is removed, the voltage level rises.

Inequitable Voltage:

It is a discrepancy in the three-phase supply value or a change in the phase angle. Unbalanced circuit impedances and unbalanced loads can also cause it. It causes things to heat up, wear down equipment, and make things less effective.

Voltage Variations:

Voltage sags are brief decreases in RMS supply voltage that last between 0.5 and one minute. Voltage swells are brief increases in RMS supply voltage over a 0.5 cycle to one minute limit.

How Frequently Are They Sold:

The supply frequency is the rate at which the waves of the supply voltage vary. The National Electricity Market is managed by NEMMCO (National Electricity Market Management Company). Outside of the National Electricity Market, the frequency norms are set by the local producing authority.

Changes to the Harmonics:

It is a shift in the pattern of the supply voltage or current that occurs repeatedly. Extra harmonics can result in additional losses, flickering lights, malfunctions, radio interference, motor vibrations, and sensitive equipment that is less effective.

The procedure for analysing power quality at CareLabs is as follows:

  • Both the aim of the power quality survey and the on-site evaluation are documented.
  • As you complete your investigation, create a one-line schematic of the whole electrical system.
  • A power analyzer is connected at several places in the distribution end to collect data from each unique system.
  • Maintaining the distribution system as illustrated in the one-line schematic.
  • Examining and analysing the gathered data, as well as doing additional analysis,
  • Report submitted with recommended remedies

Our highly experienced personnel can assist you in determining how to resolve power quality issues. Your power quality will be at its finest if you thoroughly research and analyze your system. If you want to learn more about our power quality analysis service, please contact us.
